I would like to thank everyone for the Valentines cards, flowers, and candy I received. It was a wonderful day!!!
What we are learning in class:
In Religion: The children will learn about the Season of Lent.
In Language Arts: The children will review Letters learned.
In Math: We will review Math Topics learned.
In All About: The children will learn about Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), and Lent, and a few famous African Americans for Black History Month.
Homework (Show & Tell): Have your child bring their favorite things for show & tell this week.
Reminders:
Monday, February, 15: NO SCHOOL. Teacher In-Service.
Wednesday, February 17: NO Early Dismissal.
Wednesday, February 17: FULL DRESS. Pre-K students will receive ashes in the classroom.
Wednesday, February 17: LENTEN PROJECT TO BEGIN. To raise money for Haiti, we are asking that your child take some time away from TV or video games to do some extra chores around the house daily or weekly. These chores should be things they are not normally required to do. Then you decide how much they would earn for that chore and have your child send in the money to class. More information will be sent in your child’s folder on Tuesday. I will also list it separately on my website.
Wednesday, February 24: Early Dismissal.
Friday, February 26: Go Texan Day! Students can wear their favorite western outfit. NO GUNS, WEAPONS, OR SPURS.
Special Notes:
Jackets and Dress Code: Just a reminder that although the children can wear regular jackets to and from school, they cannot wear them once they are in the classroom. Sometimes the class is cool, even on warmer days. Please make sure your child has a St. Mary sweatshirt, St. Mary cardigan sweater, Navy or Red cardigan sweater, or St. Mary hoodie in their backpack to wear if they become cold during class. PLEASE LABEL ALL JACKETS, CLOTHES, AND OTHER ITEMS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.
Ongoing school fundraiser (Scrip/Debit/Gift cards): Please consider purchasing these cards through our school to help as a fundraiser. You can purchase the cards of places you already shop. Then you are helping the school when you shop. You only pay for the value of the card. Click on my page “Scrip Card Fundraiser” for more information.
Yearbooks: If you have not purchased a yearbook and would like to purchase one, they are still accepting orders. The yearbooks are hardcover and cost $25 each. IF YOU HAVE PICTURES FOR THE YEARBOOK OF ANY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, PLEASE EMAIL THEM TO Mrs. Rogers at brogers@stmarycatholicschool.com.
Spring Fundraiser: The fundraiser is called the Hoop De Doo and will be in April. You will receive more information from your room mom. If you would like to shop early for the auction baskets, please bring the items to my class and I will send them to the room moms. Thank you to the families who have already brought in items. The themes are:
AM basket: Breakfast Basket
PM basket: Christmas Basket
God bless,
Mrs. Jeanie Couvillon
