REMINDER:

Registration packets went home in your child’s folder last week. It is important to turn these in soon. After spring break, the registration will open to all parishioners of St. Mary Church. Then registration will open to the public beginning in April. The registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Therefore, it is important to turn in your registration to hold a spot for your child.

Lenten Project:

Wednesday, February 17 - Wednesday, March 31

The Pre-K Lenten Project is as follows: To raise money for Haiti, we are asking that your child take some time away from their fun time to do some extra chores around the house daily or weekly. These chores should be things that are not normally required of them. Then you decide how much they would earn for the chore(s) and have your child bring the money to class (daily or weekly). I will have a jar in the classroom so the children can see their progress. It might be easier for your child to remember what chores they have done if they are the same every day for one week or all throughout Lent. If they remember what they have done, it will have a greater impact on them. You can also keep track of their chores on the calendar that will be in your child’s folder behind their discipline chart.

Some examples of extra chores can include:  set the table, load the dishwasher or unload part or all of it, feed the animals, sweep one or more rooms, dust, help with laundry, wipe the table after eating.

Lent is about sacrifice and working for a change in yourself. Each grade at St. Mary School will be participating in a project for Lent to show sacrifice and working for a change in themselves. Although students in Pre-K do not fully understand the concept of sacrifice, they will still be making some sacrifices when doing extra chores around the house because these chores will take some time away from their TV, video games, computer, toys, etc. This time of doing extra chores also makes a change in the student by having more responsibilities, which also allows more family time together.

If you have any questions, please send me a note or email.
God bless,
Mrs. Jeanie Couvillon
